Hi, I’m Sinclair. What does a catfish have in common with a cat? Nothing, except the catfish has barbels which resemble a cat’s whiskers. The barbels aid in searching for food in murky waters.
Catfish are bottom feeders due to its’ bony head and negative buoyancy. A catfish has no scales. It’s body may be naked or covered with bony plates. A catfish has a strong, hollow, bonified leading spine-like ray on its’ fins. The spine can stick outwards inflicting severe wounds or injecting venom if the fish is irritated.
