Hi, I’m Sinclair. A two foot, three inch, 17.5 pound fish called a zander fish has been attacking swimmers in Lac Majeur, a lake in Switzerland. The fish bit six swimmers causing wounds up to four inches long.
The zander fish is a long pike perch. The zander has an elongated body and head like a pike and a spiny dorsal fin like a perch. The fish thrives in water with low visibility. The zander is a popular game fish in Europe. In the U.S., the zander was illegally substituted for walleye in some restaurants which was discovered by the FDA.

Swiss divers tried to capture the fish with a net but had to kill it with a harpoon instead. A zander is not known to attack humans but authorities believe the fish was suffering from a hormonal imbalance. The fish was later served to tourists.
